How It Works:

 The lock box works like a bank vault or safe and is made up of two parts. The first part is the safe or vault which boxes the trailer hitch. The second part is similar to the door on the bank vault or safe. It has bolts which move to interlock with the vault. When the two parts are put together they collar the trailer hitch and form a box around it. The hitch and locking bolts are neatly secured inside the box.

Next the special lock is placed on it's locking pin which is contained in it's own special box welded to the door. The special lock is easily installed and removed with a key. The special lock fits neatly inside the box with very little room around it and is inaccessible to tools which could be used to jimmy, pry, or force the lock to come off it's pin.

Bolt Cutters are useless because the lock box was designed and engineered to eliminate small surface areas. The pin moves the bolts back and forth to lock and unlock the box. The special lock prevents any tampering with the pin.

Materials:

side view of trailer lock The box or vault has walls of 3/16 inch plate steel. It is engineered and fabricated to attain the highest strength possible. All connections are attached with precision welds. It has a primer coat and a finish coat. The paint is applied by a method called Powder Coat. In this process the primer and finish coats are baked on at a very high temperature.

The lock box door, which is 3/16 inches thick, and it's locking mechanism are made entirely of stainless steel. Stainless steel has unique qualities which make it the ideal material, such as:

  1. It is non-corrosive and will not rust, therefore it does not have to be coated with anything to protect it from the environment or weather.
  2. It has very high strength and is stronger than regular steel and some metals that are used in molds and are sometimes called pot metal.
  3. Has a quality making it resistant to high temperatures such as those created by a cutting torch.
